AN 2012 Report!

So um...I didn't write a pre-journal like everyone else because I was too busy sweatshopping the 2 weeks before Anime North.  BUT IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING D:  I realized on Wed night that there was no way I would be able to finish Chise on time even with no sleep.  I even got a skit ready and had the audio all recorded for the masquerade ;___;  ALL OF MY SADNESS.

I wasn't going to enter the masquerade by then but Vicky helped convince me that I should go ahead and enter Sakura.  And since I really wanted to experience AN's masquerade, it didn't take me much to agree.  I quickly threw together some audio and fixed up a few things on the dress.  Thanks so much to vickybunnyangel for burning the audio for me since I had no dvd player ;__;

I also spent most of Thursday night remaking Lebreau's shorts so I could wear them Friday of AN.  BUT UGH, STUPID ME FORGOT TO PACK IT IN THE MORNING, I basically brought a giant gun to AN for nothing.  So Friday, I didn't cosplaying due to lack of shorts but helped out my friends with the Nominoichi instead, which was fun in its own way. I MADE MONIES!  Haha, I forgot to bring half the stuff I wanted to sell so definitely will do it again

Saturday

Chilled until noon and slowwwllly changed into Sakura.  I walked around with KakeranoTsuki for a couple of hours before we DIED from heat.  Five layers of fabric in 30 degree weather is not fun.  Kakera had 3 layers herself, we tried to walk back to the hotel room but was stopped too often so it took us that much longer to get into our nice AC room.  
We rested and practiced our skits for the masquerade in our rooms while waiting for masquerade check-in to start.  Then we braved the heat again and met up with vickybunnyangel in line for check-in.  I saw sooo many awesome costumes in the green room!  I wish I took pictures but I was way too nervous and thinking too much about my skit to do it.  I also saw another girl with the exact same costume as me in the Master division which made me even more nervous (I almost didn't want to enter after I found out).  During the greenroom waiting time, raging-akujiki happened to find me!  He did a quick sketch of me which you can see here: raging-akujiki.deviantart.com/…

Green room time was long but it felt pretty short.  Before I knew it I was on stage, everything flew by so fast!  I was so nervous during my presentation that my hands were shaking, but apparently I did well! I won Best Journeyman and Most Accurate Journeyman (fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/h…).  My greenroom buddy, Kakera, won Best in Class Workmanship and Honorable Mention for Presentation!    So proud of us!  We now advance to Artisan division (which scares me a little).  vickybunnyangel also did an awesome skit with her Homura, I thought she should have gotten an award for Most Badass ;D

After the masquerade was over, we were all super tired and hungry.  We ordered pizza and ate it in the lobby of Radisson.  Haha, it was the most delicious pizza I ever had~

Sunday

Donned my newly finished Kyouko Sakura costume for magical girl fun timez!  We checked out the organized shoot before going off to do a private shoot.  So expect photo spam later! ;D  I had so much fun with the girls. Here's the rest of the group:

tl;dr

I really enjoyed this year's AN, even though I was so tired and sleepy from sweatshopping for two weeks.  It was really chill and stress-free!  And I got to be in the masquerade!
